General
Tired of endless anime and manga? Well, why not read a Japanese visual novel! What’s a “Japanese visual novel”, you ask? Well, it’s kind of like a digital story book, similar to manga in terms of art style and text, but only it has color and usually contains voices like an anime. And like anime/manga, it comes in a variety of genres to choose. Unlike anime/manga, however, usually you are much more involved in the storyline through the eyes of the main character and your choices inevitably effect the direction of the story.
AND IF YOU LIKE HENTAI, THERE’S PLENTY OF TITLES THAT HAVE IT.
Simply put, it’s a choose-your-own-adventure book in a form of a video game. This is a compilation of every single first impressions/playthrough post regarding Japanese visual novels ever posted on this blog. Warning: For playthroughs, sometimes we don’t use fan-translations because the game lacks one and we are often forced to read it raw. Due to limited knowledge on moonrunes, our interpretations of storyline events may be inaccurate.
